Who We Are:
Freelance Cafe was created in January 2007 to provide a respite from the lonliness of working from home as a freelancer. While many of us love the flexibility and freedom of working for ourselves, we miss the interactions with co-workers and the occassional work-sponsored happy hour. Freelance Cafe is intended to provide this much needed contact with the outside world.
Where We Are Going
One day, Freelance Cafe will be a physical space/cafe where freelancers, contractors, artists, and other independents can come together to work, share ideas, take classes, and get away from the solitude of the home office.
Some potential offerings:
- rentable workstations (including audio and video editing booths)
- cost-saving group memberships to online databases, newsletters and other programs
- ultimately, health insurance, and, of course, coffee.
We will also feature weekly and monthly talks from experts in the freelance field including writers, editors, photographers, tax advisors, money managers, artists, and anyone else who has ideas to share.
